From the inside-out.

Writer's picture: AléxAléx

Picture this, I am out with a group of friends on a Friday night in New York City. One of us gets hungry and of course, so does the rest of the group. We are in central Manhattan and the selection of coffee shops are endless; dinner selection however, not so much. " Hey there's a Wendy's and Burger king , which one is everyone feeling?" One member of the group shouts, and whilst everyone goes back and forth I already know I am going to be the odd man out. *clears throat "Um guys...I dont really eat fast food, I'm going to run to whole foods or something." I announce nervously...the group conversation came to an ubrupt silience and everyone looked at me with pressed eyebrows and puzzled stares.

I mean seriously , you'd think theyd be use to this by now. This is only the 10th time we've gone out to eat together. "sigh"

Most of the time when people hear the word nutrition they either run as far as they can from it or as fast as they can towards it. It's a love/hate relaitonship, simple as that. I myself have always had a passion for knowledge, especailly when it comes to the human mind and body. As humans ( and currently most millenials ) we are always looking for the asnwers to the "why". "Why do we do the things we do?", "Why is my my body doing things it never did before?", "What are the list of things Coconut Oil can cure?"...etc. There's answers and explantation in research and science. The only thing is, its everchanging and most of the time an educated guess. What does that mean exactly? We are all pretty much living off of a wikipedia based faith that the remedies and knowledge acquired from many finds and experiements will heal us. There is so much to learn, So much we dont yet know.

I personally find it overwelming how much I have learned in a week about plants, fruits , and oils alone; forget about all the fascinating things I have learned about the human psyche. My point is, we learn from eachother. I love how plants can be the key to ingredients that can help heal. I love how certain understandings and strategies can be the key to picking up on warning signals that might very well save some one's life. Sometimes understanding the inside can help improve the outside ( cheesy I know).

There is no one size fits all when it comes to the discovery of one's self. What may work for me, may not always work for someone else ( due to the unique fiber of our RNA coding and all that ). If you're willing to come along for the ride , I'd love to share discoveries discovered along the way. I'd love to hear some of your discoveries as well. I wouldnt know half the things I know if it weren't for a little human trial and error.

The body & mind are truly an anomaly ; they will never be completly understood. Its like a taking a journey through the safarie without a roadmap to where you'll end up. Heres to the unknown and the discoveries along the way !
